SEED GATHERING WORKSHOP
On 01/12/2019 the Coastlands Native Plant Nursery kindly ran a workshop that members of the Cooks Beachcare Group took part in.
Our team learnt how to gather seeds from our dunes native plants which we then provide to the nursery.
With our groups volunteers now actively gathering seed we can continue to ensure the natives being planted in the Cooks Beach dunes are truly eco sourced while reducing the cost of providing the plants.
The seeds are gathered over the summer and autumn months and include spinifex, pingao, wiwi (knobby club rush) and pohuehue.
